The 2021 Meerlust Rubicon displays a strikingly youthful appearance, deep and densely coloured with an almost purple chue. Aromatically, it offers a classic Rubicon profile, led by lifted violet notes, ripe plum and dark berry fruit, layered with cedarwood, vanilla and an intense thread of spice. Hints of liquorice add further complexity on the nose. The palate is still in its youth, showing power and structure alongside impressive balance. Full-bodied and concentrated, it is driven by fresh, dark fruit, framed by rounded tannins and seamlessly integrated oak.
